New Day Care

Kai is doing well at the new Day Care. He seems to be happy so far. This place is new, so everything is clean and bright. It is also so convenient because it is by Jim's office. We like it very much but the only thing I don't like about it is Kai is very thirsty when he gets home. Jim's going to talk to them about that.
I went to see Dr. M today. I feel refreshed! I told him about the antibiotics and he told me that it destroys the viruses but it also destroys good guys (probiotics) in your intestines, which you need to keep healthy. So now I have to restore my good germs by drinking kefir (not sure about the spell. kind of like yogurt - which I used to eat in Japan also) and eating fermented vegetables. By the way when I met Ms. S last week, she told me that she goes to this acupuncturist introduced by Dr. M, and she highly recommended her. I asked him to introduce me also, so I'm going to try to get an appointment soon.
Hope everyone had a nice day - good night!

Dr. M is right about the yogurt, although I think you'd be fine just eating some plain old yogurt from the store. It's my understanding that Kefir has a really strong taste and a bit of "whang" to it. Let me know what you decide to do. Also, how is your eating? Are you gradually getting better?

I have to say I admire your willingness to try new things. I really am curious to hear how the acupuncture appointment goes.

I hope the new daycare works out well for little Kai. It may be that they are feeding him treats that are too salty, and that's what is making him so thirsty.

Something to consider taking permanently since our ability to digest diminshes with age...a lot of people would be less cranky. May just want to take straight in liquid format(liquid available now that can remain unrefrigerated..haven't used it), even plain yogurt doesn't contain enough. Ask about fish oil(Omega-3), a must, and CoQ10 (I took for a long time, only buy when 2 for 1, but never seemed to boost my energy).

Keep starting my days with my watch on the left arm...habits are hard to break.

Keep the tips coming. Have a great day! Rebecca

You know when at home in Japan, we made our own Kefir. Once you get the culture (some friends gave us), you just put aside a little each time you make it and mix with Milk, and it turns into Kefir. I don't know if it will work with Kefir here though. But I didn't mind how it tasted - you can add fruits or honey to make it more appealing. By the way I took fish oil during pregnancy and Kai turned out to be all right! My friend takes CoQ10 to maintain the skin young but it's probably good for your health also.

Actually Mizuho, plain yogurt from the grocery store already has the live cultures in it. All you have to do is make sure you get some that is fresh and mix it with milk.

I have a "yogurt making" machine that I'm not using- would you like to have it? It's basically a set of glass jars with plastic lids that sit on a glorified hot plate. It gives you instructions on how to make your own yogurt (mostly just mix plain yogurt with milk in those jars, put them on the plate and plug it in and let it sit for X amount of time). I'm sure you could figure out a recipe for kefir using it. I'm too lazy to use it any more (we just buy our yogurt at the farmer's market) so I'd be glad for you to have it.

Have you heard about that Danactive stuff? It's the Dannon yogurt drink that is supposed to have extra cultures that help your digestive system. You might want to ask your doctors if they think you could drink that to help your progress along.

Omega-3's are supposed to be great for your brain and your heart and Dad swears by CoQ10 for his heart.

Rebecca- don't tell me my digestion is going to get worse :( It's been kinda crappy since I had gastritis in college.
