First Day of Treatment

I finished my first day of treatment. Piece of cake! But I was at the hospital at 8am and finally finished everything after 4pm. I had radiation and took both of the chemo drugs, as well as anti-nausea medicine and lots of saline. One of the chemo drug, called Cisplatin, is Platinum based (yes, Platinum, so it should be very expensive drug) and I hear it works very aggressively. Although I was scared of these drugs, I was happy that my treatment finally started and I don't have to worry about my cancer spreading somewhere. Anyway, I am feeling fine, just a little tired from being at the hospital all day and I'm super hungry! I cooked miso soup tonight so will enjoy my dinner now. Thank you all for thinking about me and praying for me today. Thanks to you, I have a really good feeling the treatment will work out. Good night!

That's a long day. Glad you're in good spirits. Not that I've ever cooked Japanese before, but if you get a hankering for something, let me know and I'll try to cook it up for you!

All the best!
Val

Well I'm sorry that it turned into such a long day. Fighting cancer is a job isn't it? But I'm glad that it turned out well and that we've got this started. The sooner it's started, the sooner it's over!

Answering your hump day question- think of your workday week as a big hill. On Monday and Tuesday you are traveling up the hill. On Wednesday you get to the top or the "hump". On Thursday and Friday you are walking down the hill into the uh, valley of happiness that is the weekend. We sometimes say "Happy Hump Day" on Wednesday because it means we have gotten halfway through the week and it's all downhill from here.

Like Val, I am also good for cook duty. Now that we are heading into fall, I'm much more in the mood to putter around in the kitchen. Please let me know if there is anything I can make for you and freeze it so you can have it on hand after a long day of chemo.

How do you make miso soup? It sounds yummy.

Hi everyone thanks for the message. I usually love some spicy food but yesterday I had thai food and it didn't taste too well. I think the drugs changed my taste. But I can still eat rice and miso soup no problem. Chriseda, miso soup is very easy - boil water, add some ingredients like sea weed, green onions, etc. and in the end add miso. I sometimes make instant miso soup also.
